After their collective victory in the Course des Caps in June, Sam Goodchild and Loïs Berrehar are back together at the helm of the Imoca MACIF Santé Prévoyance for the end of the 2025 season. The Défi Azimut – Lorient Agglomération will be an opportunity for them to measure themselves against the competition on a stretch of water they know well, before continuing their rise to prominence in the Transat Café L'OR. This is a pivotal stage for a promising duo, determined to refine their partnership at sea.
Born in Tours in 1993, Loïs Berrehar discovered sailing at a very early age, between Optimist dinghies, crossing the Atlantic with his family and his first Olympic ambitions in catamarans. After ten years of high-level competition in Formula 18, he turned his attention to ocean racing. His first Class40 transatlantic race in 2017 confirmed his vocation and led him to the Pôle Finistère Course au Large.
As part of the Espoir CMB programme, then the Skipper Macif programme, Loïs gradually made his mark on the Figaro circuit, with six seasons rich in learning and success: victory in the Transat Paprec 2023 (with Charlotte Yven), the Solo Guy Cotten 2024, and a remarkable 2nd place in the Solitaire du Figaro the same year, along with two stage victories.
At the same time, he discovered IMOCA with two participations in the Transat Jacques Vabre (2021 and 2023) and became Charlie Dalin's replacement skipper on MACIF Santé Prévoyance for the 2024 Vendée Globe, proof of the confidence he inspires.
In 2025, he was chosen by Banque Populaire to lead its Vendée Globe 2028 project.
At 31, Loïs Berrehar is establishing himself as one of the great talents of French ocean racing. Rigorous, committed and driven by an undiminished passion, he is continuing his apprenticeship in IMOCA while awaiting the launch of his future boat. It was therefore natural that he was chosen as co-skipper alongside Sam Goodchild on the Imoca MACIF Santé Prévoyance, a new step in further enriching his experience.
