After a sleepless night tacking downwind to the Occidentale de Sein, the fleet of this 15th Défi Azimut Lorient Agglomération set course south towards the first Azimu mark. Against a weak southerly flow, the IMOCA are progressing cautiously, led by TeamWork Team Snef and Charal, which have been stuck since the start.

Tacking, tacking and more tacking! Whether sailing downwind or upwind, the IMOCA boats have been tacking repeatedly since the start. The tandems that came to this 15th Défi Azimut Lorient Agglomération to hone their skills and measure themselves against each other are getting their money's worth.

While Charal and TeamWork Team Snef, partners within the BeYou Racing structure, have been leading the way since the start in a head-to-head battle that continues this morning, attacks have come from all sides during the night. Initiatives Coeur, for example, started in second place but made a nice move in the south of the Glénans, not hesitating to leave the main group behind in the north of the archipelago. Late in the evening, Sam Davies and Violette Dorange continued their nice run close to the Bigouden coast and caught up with the leading pack.

They caught up with Café Joyeux, which had been celebrating since the start, with Nicolas d'Estais and Simon Koster doing justice to their legendary IMOCA with daggerboards (formerly Macif, winner of the Vendée Globe and the Route du Rhum), in these light conditions where foils are more of a hindrance than anything else. Also noteworthy in this small group was 4Cad La mie Câline, which was sailing well and passed fourth at the Occidentale de Sein before 4 a.m. After a poor start yesterday afternoon off Groix, Macif Santé Prévoyance hung on and passed in fifth position, half an hour behind the leaders, to join the provisional podium at the end of the morning.
