Ambrogio Beccaria, 34, embodies a generation of skippers who approach offshore racing with method and clarity. A marine engineer born in Milan, he has established himself as one of the most consistent Italian sailors of his generation, combining technical mastery, strategic acumen, and experience in solo racing.
After starting out in crewed and double-handed races, he reached a milestone in 2019 by becoming the first Italian to win the Mini Transat, a defining victory that firmly established him on the international stage. Named TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year in 2018 and 2019, and later honored with the Ambrogino d’Oro by the City of Milan, he has since amassed an impressive record: 29 races competed, 23 podium finishes, and 17 victories.
Between 2022 and 2024, competing in the Class40 class aboard Alla Grande – Pirelli, he continued this trajectory: finishing second in the 2022 Route du Rhum, and winning the 2023 Transat Jacques Vabre and the 2024 Transat CIC. These are performances built over time, grounded in reliability and mastery of the project.
In April 2025, he began a new chapter with Mapei and joined the IMOCA class at the helm of the foiler Allagrande Mapei, with a clear goal: the 2028 Vendée Globe. A methodical and determined skipper, he moves forward step by step and is building a consistent career at the highest level of offshore racing.
