Pierre-Louis Attwell, born on June 7, 1996, in Malestroit and originally from Normandy, is an experienced French skipper who has built his career around sailing instruction and offshore racing. He began as an instructor at the Cercle Nautique de Honfleur, which he founded himself, before gradually turning to competition, participating at a young age in major events such as the Solitaire du Figaro.
His racing career led him to compete in Class40 and to sail transatlantic races such as the Transat Café L’Or (2025), as well as other Class40 championship events, which he won in 2024. He is now listed among the IMOCA skippers in the 60-foot category, a natural progression in his racing career.
Beyond his racing achievements, Attwell is committed to raising awareness about chronic illnesses and invisible disabilities, as he himself has lived with Crohn’s disease since adolescence. As a sponsor of AFA Crohn RCH France since January 2026, he uses his athletic career to convey a message of hope and inclusion, particularly through his new IMOCA project, “RESILIENT.”
