Défi Azimut 2025: Last battle before the Transat Café L'Or

From September 16 to 21, 2025, Lorient La Base will once again welcome the crème de la crème of ocean racing for the Défi Azimut - Lorient Agglomération 2025, a not-to-be-missed event on the IMOCA calendar, part of the IMOCA Globe Series championship. With one month to go before the start of the Transat Café L'Or, this 15th edition of the Défi Azimut 2025 promises to be the last full-scale rehearsal before the Atlantic crossing to Martinique.

A unique format, a key challenge

Since its creation, the Défi Azimut has stood out for its original format, combining speed, during the Runs in the Groix creeks; performance, during the launch of the 48h; and technique, during the Tour de Groix. For five days, skippers compete in these three key events, a true nautical spectacle accessible to all from the shore and on the water.

But beyond the format, it's the strategic timing of the Défi Azimut 2025 that really catches the eye this year: teams will see it as the last opportunity to gauge their steeds, fine-tune the final adjustments and validate the pairings in racing conditions before the Transat Café L'Or. 2025 marks the start of a new cycle in the IMOCA Globe Series World Championship 2024-2028, giving newly-formed teams the opportunity to learn to sail together, or to hand over newly-acquired IMOCA boats. The headliners of the Vendée Globe and new faces in ocean racing will be present on this new year in mixed, female and male pairs. Every millimeter of speed, every maneuver will be observed, analyzed and optimized, to ensure the best possible performance in this new IMOCA cycle.
