Tanguy got into sailing at a very tender age. Originally from Istres, he moved to Vannes when he was very young, where his sailing instructor father took him for a spin on an historic caravel boat in the Gulf of Morbihan.
Though his passion for the sea has grown continuously over the years, 2003 proved to be a gamechanger, when his father made a transatlantic passage for the first time, following the Mini Transat on a support boat. With his Merchant Navy studies virtually complete, Tanguy took the plunge and decided to make his dream come true by purchasing his first boat, a POGO 2, using up his savings and those of his family. He was 21.
Drawn to sailing as well as competition, and the physical and psychological challenge it represents, he arrived on the offshore racing scene in 2011, penniless, but very driven and determined. 6th in his first Mini Transat in 2013, he felt a real yearning to continue the adventure. His way of communicating enabled him to get noticed and distinguish himself. Crowned French Champion on the Mini 6.50 in 2014, he monopolised the podiums of all the races he took part in and began to make a name for himself in the domain. 3rd in the Mini Transat 6.50 in 2015, Tanguy, crowned French Mini 6.50 Champion for the 2nd year running, scaled up his ambition and decided to turn his passion into a profession.
Tanguy then embarked on the Figaro circuit in 2016 and lined up for the start of the Solitaire du Figaro in 2017, finishing 3rd rookie and 16th overall. He is now continuing the adventure on the IMOCA circuit and this year joins Denis Van Weinbergh as co-skipper.
